THE BUNZBERRY BLAST

Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Soymilk

1 banana

1 tablespoon flax seed

1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder (Isopure)

1 packet Lemon-Lime Emergen-C

4 oz. MonaVie active

a handful of dry oatmeal

a splash of water

a few pieces of ice


Directions:

Blend to perfection

Drink to your health!

 

On the healthier side of things, I love to find fun and engaging ways of staying active so I can afford my crazy bottomless eating habit! (As proven on my RESTAURANT BLOG) :)


Depending on my mood, I’d throw on some good music and find a scenic trail to go for a relaxing cruis’in jog in the sun... or go to the local track at the colleges for some sprints and stairs (a great calorie-burning workout!)... and of course there’s my second home at the gym where I can catch some laps in the pool or watch my Lakers kick butt while I burn my usual 500 calories on a cardio machine.


To keep things even more interesting, I like to mix it up with other sports as well.  I play in racketball leagues at my gym and local softball leagues in the off-season (2008).


One of the goals I’ve had for a few years is to complete a sprint-distance triathlon.  Well, I finally bit the bullet and entered in my 1st race!  Check out my diary entry for the full story!  Training for this was great as it forces me to maintain a dynamic conditioning routine with my swimming, cycling, and running.  There’s also nothing like a cute Pearl Izumi outfit that will keep me motivated! :)

SNACK ON-THE-GO: Sliced Mangos, Jicama, Tangello’s, or a Banana for convenience


SNACK ON THE GOLF COURSE: Almonds and Hard-Boiled Eggs, Kim Bob (Korean Rolls)


SNACK TO STASH IN THE CAR: Turkey Jerkey, Think Product Bars


CHIPS: Terra Exotic Vegetable Chips


CEREAL: Trader Joe’s Muesli Mix


PROTEIN POWDER: Muscle Milk Light, Cookies and Cream


FROZEN YOGURT: Golden Spoon (It’s Nonfat and Only 17 calories per fluid ounce!), Pistachio and Peanut Butter


GROCERY MARKET: Mother’s Market (for their unique variety), Trader Joe’s (for their price), Whole Foods (for their food bar)

WORKOUT OPTIONS:

It’s always great to shock your system and change it up every so often.  Try one of my workouts:


REVERSE SPRINT TRI (a great detox workout to sweat out everything you indulged during a crazy weekend)  If you can, schedule this workout around a Spin Class.

  1. 1.Start off with a 5K run (3.1 miles) on the treadmill.

  2. 2.Attend a Spinning Class of your choice at the gym, or bike 10 miles on the stationary.

  3. 3.Finish it off with a dip in the pool and swim a 1/2 mile.

Finish off with a soak in the hot tub or steam room.  Be sure to stretch well and stay hydrated!


TRACK WORK

Run 4 laps at a comfortable pace (1 mile)

Run the next 4 laps where you pick up the pace with an 80% sprint along the straight stretches and recover around the turns (1 mile)

Run another 4 laps at a slightly quicker pace than your first mile, be sure to beat your 1st mile time (1 mile), Push yourself!


Optional but Highly Recommended: Spike your Heart Rate with running at least 6 sets of Stadiums Stairs


PYRAMID ABS

Do the following Consecutively...

20 crunches with feet on ground, legs slightly bent

20 crunches with legs in tabletop position

20 crunches with legs pointed straight up in the air (keep them as straight as possible)

20 crunches with legs in tabletop position

20 bicycle crunches (20 each side)

20 crunches with feet on ground, legs slightly bent

50 flutter kicks
